Plant a Row • Grow a Row

Plant a Row • Grow a Row builds on the long lasting tradition of gardeners loving to share their harvest with others.  It is a people-helping-people program to assist in feeding the hungry in their own communities.  Grow Regina encourages all churches to plant vegetables on the church grounds for donation to the Food Bank at harvest.  Members who are avid gardeners are also encouraged to plant a row of  vegetables in their own gardens. The long lasting vegetables like carrots and potatoes are preferred, but other crops like beets, cabbage, squash, and tomatoes are accepted.

The Plant a Row • Grow a Row program started in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1986, initiated by Ron and Eunice O’Donovan. Since then, over 1.4 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables have been given to Winnipeg Harvest through the Grow a Row program. We would like to reproduce this success story in Regina so “Let’s get Growing”!
