Plowing for People
On Monday, April 26th, despite the cool weather, members of the Pathway Community Church volunteered their professional skills to build a new garden shed at YARA-Grow Regina Community Garden, 3500 Queen Street. This new garden shed, generously being constructed and donated to Grow Regina, will provide onsite storage for the ‘Plowing for People’ project.
‘Plowing for People’ is an initiative started in 2010 to raise funds for humanitarian needs locally and globally. A team of members volunteered to provide rototilling services at YARA-GRCG. This will be an ongoing relationship that will support community gardening in Regina.
Initially, we were going to rent equipment, but soon realized that in order to offer the best rates and have easy access to equipment, it would be necessary to purchase the equipment and arrange for storage onsite. With the approval of Grow Regina Board and the City of Regina, construction began. Zac & Kelly anticipate the shed to be completed in time for rototilling to start the first week of May, weather permitting.
